WP AutoAzon — Full Documentation

Display Amazon products automatically anywhere on your WordPress site, powered by the official Amazon Creators API.

1. Overview

WP AutoAzon pulls live product data — title, image, price, rating, availability, and Prime eligibility — directly from Amazon's official Creators API (the OAuth2 successor to PA-API 5.0) and renders it as grids, ranked charts, comparison tables, carousels, single-product boxes, or a floating sticky showcase.

It's built for two audiences at once:

An optional AI layer (OpenAI or Claude — your choice) improves search-keyword accuracy, shortens descriptions, writes chart titles, and generates extra comparison insights.

2. Requirements

WordPress5.9+PHP7.4+AmazonAn accepted Amazon Associates account with Creators API accessAI (optional)An OpenAI or Anthropic (Claude) API key

Note: Creators API credentials (Credential ID / Secret / Version) are separate from the older PA-API's AWS Access Key/Secret. If you used PA-API before, you'll need to generate new credentials from Associates Central.

3. Installation & Quick Start

  1. Upload the plugin folder to /wp-content/plugins/ and activate it from the Plugins screen.
  2. Go to WP AutoAzon → API Settings and enter your Amazon Creators API credentials (create them at https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/creatorsapi).
  3. Drop a shortcode into a post, or insert a block:
[amzai_products keyword="wireless headphones" count="5" view="grid"]
  1. That's it — products render live, styled to match your site.

If you're on PRO, you can skip step 3 entirely: turn on Auto-Insert (see §11) and the plugin places products for you.

4. Free vs PRO

FreePROGrid, Chart, Compact, Carousel, Box views✓✓Comparison table (2–5 products)✓✓Shortcodes & Gutenberg blocks✓✓Color schemes & custom styling✓✓AI-shortened descriptions, Chart titles, Comparison rows✓✓Quality filters (rating / review count)✓✓Auto-Insert (automatic placement)–✓AI search-keyword generation–✓Custom Comparison Products per post–✓Sticky Showcase (sitewide / category)–✓Page Level Sticky Showcase–✓

Manual placement is 100% free, forever. PRO is specifically for automation at scale.

5. Display Types

Every view is mobile-responsive: Chart stacks into individual mini-cards on small screens, and Comparison keeps its label column pinned while the rest scrolls sideways.

Hovering (or keyboard-focusing) a product image shows a larger floating preview on desktop — automatically disabled on touch devices.

6. Shortcodes

[amzai_comparison asins="B0XXXXXXXX,B0YYYYYYYY,B0ZZZZZZZZ"]

Requires at least 2 ASINs. Rows only render when every listed product actually has that data — see §13 for the full behavior, including AI-generated rows.

7. Gutenberg Blocks

Search the block inserter for "AutoAzon" to find:

8. Widget

A classic sidebar widget is available under Appearance → Widgets → WP AutoAzon, supporting Grid (1 column), Compact grid (2 columns), Carousel, and Chart layouts — configured the same way as the shortcode equivalents.

9. Settings: API

WP AutoAzon → API Settings — enter your Amazon Creators API Credential ID, Secret, and API Version, plus your Associates tracking ID (partner tag) and marketplace. A Test Connection button confirms the credentials work.

10. Settings: Display

WP AutoAzon → Display Settings — free-tier, sitewide defaults:

11. Settings: Auto-Insert (PRO)

WP AutoAzon → Auto-Insert — the automation engine. Turn on the master switch, then configure up to five positions:

Each position independently sets What to show (Single Box, Grid, Chart, Compact, Carousel, or Comparison), Count (1–5), Color scheme, and (for Chart) its display toggles.

Keyword source controls what's searched for each post: the post title, a custom fixed keyword, or AI-generated (see §12).

Multiple "After Paragraph X" positions are resolved against the original post content in a single pass, so one position's content can never accidentally get spliced into the middle of another's.

12. AI Features & Providers

WP AutoAzon's AI layer is provider-agnostic — pick OpenAI or Claude (Anthropic) on the Auto-Insert tab, enter that provider's API key and choose a model. Every AI feature routes through whichever provider is selected:

Testing your key: each provider has its own Test Key button.

Per-feature provider override: Comparison rows can be pointed at a different provider/model than everything else (Auto-Insert tab → "Comparison AI provider" → Same as above / OpenAI / Claude). Reuses whichever key is already configured — no second key needed.

AI Chart Cache: every AI-generated result is stored with a configurable expiration — 24, 48, or 96 hours — and viewable in a searchable, paginated table on the Auto-Insert tab. Clear AI Chart Cache wipes it on demand.

13. Comparison View, In Depth

No blank or placeholder cells. A raw-data row (Price, Rating, Availability) only renders when every compared product actually has that value — if even one is missing it, the whole row is left out. Prime shows "Yes"/"No" (never a dash), and the row is skipped entirely if none of the products are Prime-eligible.

Equal column widths. However many products are being compared (2 to 5), every product column is exactly the same width, regardless of title length — paired with the Comparison title length setting (§10).

AI-generated rows (optional). Turn on "Use AI to add extra comparison rows" and the table gains 2–4 extra attributes (e.g. "Best For," "Battery Life") the AI judges relevant for those specific products — given each product's price, rating, availability, Prime status, and up to 8 feature bullets. Every product is guaranteed a real, non-blank value; a malformed response is dropped entirely rather than shown half-empty. Cached per product set.

14. Custom Comparison Products (Per-Post Override)

Found at the bottom of the Auto-Insert tab. Overrides the automatic keyword-matched products used in a specific post's Comparison position:

  1. Search for the post/page by title (or paste its URL) and click Add.
  2. Type the ASINs you want, comma-separated.
  3. Click Save Auto-Inject Settings.

That post's Comparison position always uses those exact products — even if the automatic search would turn up something different — until you remove it from this list, which reverts that post to automatic. Only Comparison is affected; other positions on the same post keep using the automatic set.

15. Sticky Showcase (PRO)

WP AutoAzon → Sticky Showcase — a floating product bar shown sitewide or scoped to specific categories. Configure position (top/bottom/left/right), alignment, size, layout direction, colors, and a dismissible close button (hidden for 24 hours once closed).

On mobile, a horizontal bar becomes a near-full-width strip pinned to its edge; the vertical bar narrows further.

16. Page Level Sticky Showcase (PRO)

WP AutoAzon → Page Level Sticky Showcase — the same floating bar, but with specific products set per post/page, overriding the sitewide/category setup entirely on that page. Search and add posts/pages the same way as §14, then configure independent position/size/color settings.

17. Caching

18. Mobile Responsiveness

19. License Activation (PRO)

WP AutoAzon → License — enter your PRO license key and click Activate. This unlocks the Auto-Insert, Sticky Showcase, and Page Level Sticky Showcase tabs for this domain. Use Deactivate before moving a license to a different site.

20. Troubleshooting & FAQ

Do I need an Amazon Associates account?

Yes — Creators API access requires an accepted Amazon Associates account meeting Amazon's current eligibility requirements.

Can I still use my old PA-API keys?

No. Creators API credentials are generated separately from Associates Central and are not interchangeable with PA-API's AWS Access Key/Secret.

A Chart/Comparison isn't showing images — what changed?

Chart's product image lives inside the table (its own column) by design — check the "Image" toggle (show_image) for that shortcode/block/position hasn't been turned off.

Auto-Insert isn't placing anything on a post.

Logged-in users who can edit posts will see an HTML comment (via "View Page Source") explaining why — commonly: the master switch is off, no positions are enabled, the resolved search keyword was empty, or Amazon returned zero results for that keyword.

My AI feature says the key isn't configured, but I set one.

Check which provider is currently selected (OpenAI or Claude) — only that provider's key is used. If Comparison rows are set to a specific provider override, that override's key is checked independently.
